Well Designed By Ranch Hand (Wyoming) On July 10, 2009
As stated by others, this mower is exactly as described in the Product Description. A great deal of design thought has gone into making every aspect of use easy, including cutting height adjustment, starting, and bag removal and reattachment.
My main concern was whether a 76 pound mower would be somewhat difficult to push or maneuver around my sloping yard. I have no more than average strength for a guy and have no problem pushing this mower.
The best unanticipated feature is the on-off switch lever. When this lever is pivoted toward the handle (involves no effort at all), the mower starts, and the lever is held against the handle while cutting. When the lever is let go, the mower immediately stops. As a result, when you are repositioning the mower at a corner or end of a row, you can let go of the handle, then pull the mower back on when you are ready to resume cutting, all without even looking at the lever.
My area mowed is about 3,600 square feet, well within the advertised lawn capacity of the battery, and it was indeed mowed without recharging.
Good value, good cut By Leslie K. Olson (Oconomowoc, WI) On July 1, 2009
The mower arrived on time and was easy to assemble. Have used it several times and it cuts well, is relatively quiet, and easy to use. The battery stays charged for the entire time (over one hour mowing) so no issues there. I don’t use the bag and it does not leave clumps on the lawn. I am happy with this purchase.
Good - not perfect By Mark Jones On June 19, 2009
After three years owning this lawnmower, I have only a few minor objections:
(1) I had the same problem reported by several other users: the metal height adjustment bar disconnecting from the front wheels. It can be fixed by first bending the bar inward hard so that the pin will stay put - if you can get it back in the hole (which is difficult). Most other lawnmowers use a simple height adjustment on each wheel that’s unbreakable and foolproof.
(2) No discharge chute (useful for cutting long grass). The only thing that comes with it is a bag that I don’t want and never use. The Amazon description mentions a rear discharge chute but it doesn’t come with the mower and it’s apparently not sold by Amazon.
(3) The rubber flap at the rear of the mower should be cut off at ground level instead of trailing on the ground. It gets fatigued from pushing and pulling the mower (yes you’re only supposed to push it forward but someplaces there isn’t room enough to turn around) and tears off after a couple years.
Other than that it’s a good product. Based on previous experience with a 12 volt (but otherwise similar) B&D cordless electric, I expect the batteries to have a total useful life of 10 to 15 years.
